It was an incredible winter adventure in Five Islands, Nova Scotia, with a beautiful stay, stunning views, and amazing places. This area is truly spectacular year-round, but this time, we truly appreciated the stillness and quiet of winter.
Here is a full weekend getaway itinerary:
- Cozy stay at WoW This Old Tree;
- Enjoying views at Five Islands Lighthouse Park;
- Marvelling at the force of nature by the Bass River Lighthouse.
I’ll share more details about these destinations below, and you can also watch my YouTube video about this adventure:
Every place from this winter getaway itinerary has a special place in my heart. Let me tell you why.
Cozy stay at WoW This Old Tree
It’s a beautiful A-frame with two beds, a kitchen, a full bath, stunning views, incredible nature all around, and the sweetest host—everything we could wish for from this stay!
We had a wonderful time in this cozy, tiny home, and we are so grateful for the warm welcome and special memories. This spectacular and unique stay in Five Islands, Nova Scotia, forever melted our hearts. We can’t wait to come back!
Five Islands Lighthouse Park, Nova Scotia, Canada
I can’t believe this incredible destination was just a few minutes’ walk from our stay! It offers stunning views, a beautiful lighthouse, and picturesque red chairs to enjoy the scenery—all in one place!
Five Islands Lighthouse Park is a fantastic place to visit. Even though it’s closed for the season, the views are always there!
Bass River Lighthouse, Nova Scotia, Canada
We explored this lovely place on our way home. What was supposed to be a quick stop turned out to be an astonishing destination!
Bass River Lighthouse is a beautiful spot. It was an incredible experience exploring the beach by the lighthouse and marvelling at the unique ice sculptures created by nature.
As the tide was coming in, it was mesmerizing to observe the fascinating force of nature when water was moving big chunks of ice and changing the landscape.
One thing was confusing, though: we couldn’t find any parking, maybe because of the snow or maybe because there wasn’t any. We found a spot to park without blocking the road or someone’s driveway, but it’s a 1-car spot. So, if you know the area, please let me know in the comments if there is any designated parking by this lighthouse.
More things to do around Five Islands Nova Scotia:
- Visit Five Islands Provincial Park. It’s closed for the season, but it’s an incredible place to explore in warmer weather
- Check out some waterfalls in the area. There are a few. We hoped to visit East Branch Moose River Falls, but the road leading there was covered in deep snow, so hopefully, next time.
- Take a short drive to Parrsboro. It’s a wonderful town with great places to explore. Check out my Parrsboro Getaway post to learn more.
Please remember to respect nature and leave nothing but footprints. Help to preserve our natural treasures.
