This one is a perfect mix for outdoor enthusiasts! Embark on a hiking adventure with ropes, ducking under the fallen trees and even a bit of cliff walking to see gorgeous Church Vault Brook Falls as a reward. This one should be at the top of the best waterfalls of Nova Scotia list for sure!
At the base of Church Vault Brook Falls, or “the first waterfall”
The view is fantastic at the base. There’s a little island in the middle dividing the brook into two streams, a perfect place to take pictures. But the view gets better when you climb the little hill to the top of the first waterfall. There are actually two of them!
From here, you can see both waterfalls at once and enjoy the spectacular view in every direction. Some people may decide to end this adventure here, but there’s more for the brave souls who enjoy challenges.
The second waterfall of Church Vault Brook Falls
There’s a narrow path at the cliff’s edge and a rope to hold on to. It’s the most challenging part of Church Vault Brook Falls, but it’s so worth it! The second waterfall is stunning. It is hidden in a beautiful secluded spot, and it’s a highlight of this adventure.
Church Vault Brook Falls map and directions

Park at the wharf to the right of the Canada Creek sign. Then, come back to the sign and cross the road. Walk to the edge of the road barrier and find the trail (see the map). It might take you some time to see it, but there’s a path there. Then, follow the brook to the waterfalls.
About the Church Vault Brook Falls hike
- Distance from the road – around 400 m.
- Difficulty – moderate/advanced
- Hiking time – approximately 10-15 min one-way
It’s an interesting trail along the brook edge. It gets difficult in some places, but nothing crazy. There are ropes in most challenging parts, but I would recommend having hiking sticks as well for extra help. The hardest and scariest part is a narrow path between two waterfalls at the cliff’s edge (see photos above). That was the most exciting route section for me. All the challenges make this hike a great adventure to remember! Find Church Vault Brook Falls on AllTrails for recent reviews and photos, current conditions, useful information and much more.
