WADDELL FALLS AND JOE HOWE FALLS OF VICTORIA PARK, TRURO

Joe Howe Falls, Victoria Park, Truro, Nova Scotia

These two waterfalls are close to each other and gorgeous if you see them at the right time of the year. A drastic change from powerful falls to tiny, almost dried-out streams, is standard for these mesmerizing gems of Victoria Park.

That’s why it’s better to visit Waddell Falls and Joe Howe Falls after continuous rainfalls to enjoy their strength and beauty. I would highly recommend checking these waterfalls on AllTrails to see current conditions, recent reviews and photos (to make sure they are flowing). Nevertheless, Victoria Park is gorgeous throughout the year and has a lot to offer besides the waterfalls.

That’s the first waterfall on your way. It looks stunning from different angles. You can enjoy the view of Joe Howe Falls from the wooden path, gazebo, or the top of the stairs. You can even get quite close to this one.

A staircase and a few minutes’ walk divide these two waterfalls. Like its companion, Waddell Waterfall has different viewpoints. I especially love the views from the bridge and from the stone at the base of the Falls. It’s a perfect place to chill out and take in the serenity of this spectacular waterfall.

How to get to the Waddell Falls and Joe Howe Falls

Waddell Falls and Joe Howe Falls Trail map

There are different trails leading to the waterfalls. The shortest and easiest is via Park Road alongside Lepper Brook. You can come back the same way or choose another trail. There will be two staircases by the Waddell Falls, one on the left and one on the right. Both will lead you back to the parking lot via different routes.

  • Distance from the parking spot – around 1 km.
  • Difficulty – easy
  • Hiking time – approximately 15-20 min one-way

A well-maintained, easy-to-navigate, and utterly beautiful path will lead you to this gorgeous gem. Not so far from the parking lot, after the rains, you might even see another waterfall on the way (see photo 2 above). The trail is easy and beautiful. The only challenge is a staircase between Joe Howe Falls and Waddell Falls.
